Revolution: Millennial Media’s Inaugural Partner Summit
It’s been just over a week since Millennial Media hosted its first Partner Summit, and I’m still excited about it. It was a tremendous success, and we continue to receive positive feedback from our clients and partners.
More than 200 brands, agencies, publishers, programmatic partners, and Millennial Media employees attended the event. Michael Barrett, our CEO, opened the event with the public announcement of our 100% viewability offering, a nice kick-off for our [r]evolution theme that focused on the fast-moving revolution in the mobile world, and our belief that those who evolve fastest will win.
The Millennial Media Partner Summit showcased a robust content program on attribution, programmatic, monetization, mobile video, and more. (You can see the full schedule here and a photo album of the event here. Keep an eye on our blog over the coming weeks and months as we release content from the summit. It was too good not to share!)
The day kicked off with an inspiring keynote address from blind ultramarathon runner Simon Wheatcroft. Simon’s captivated the audience with his story of how he has overcome significant challenges in life with a little bit of technology, and a whole lot of determination. I had the opportunity to run through Central Park with Simon the day before the summit which was an incredible experience.
The day was jam-packed with great presentations. I particularly enjoyed Millennial Media Interactive Designer Matt Davidow’s presentation on the evolution of the mobile banner ad. Mobile ads have gone from teeny, unsophisticated banners to lightening-fast interactive video. It’s been exciting to observe the natural symbiosis that exists between what mobile devices can do, and the ways in which our amazing creative team makes the most of the newest tech. It’s been a key part of Millennial Media’s success from the very beginning.
I also had the chance to sit down with Jill Braff from Ellen Digital Ventures to discuss their massive hit game Heads Up, and how they plan to focus their future monetization plans around ad supported content.
We closed the day with the return of Millennial Media’s signature Mobile Advertising Buzzword Bingo, which is always entertaining and informative. Our team showcased how Millennial Media is an industry leader in all aspects of our business. We strive to make mobile simple for our partners, but simple doesn’t mean boring. Media, tech, and creative came together to tell a great story.
