PhoneCast Platform with Envivio MPEG-4 Mobile Encoders Now Provides Highest Quality Video for Mobile TV Services

The PhoneCast™ platform, enhanced with the Envivio® Mobile Series of H.263/H.264 encoders, is now optimized for wireless operators launching mobile TV services, and for media companies and content providers repurposing content to address the demand for new video services over mobile devices. The complete PhoneCast solution allows subscribers to view TV, live events and sportscasts, and video on demand content on their mobile phones.

Mobile video services are accelerating wireless data revenues and their popularity is fueling the growth of 3G subscribers. During Q1 of 2005, 3G subscribers reached 23 million and by the end of 2005 had reached 50 million. According to Arc Group’s estimate, mobile streaming video service users will grow to 250 million worldwide by 2008, generating revenues of approximately $5.4 billion.
